Man-Eater The Life and Legend of an American Cannibal – Online Free

Man-Eater is a great book about The Life and Legend of an American Cannibal.
In the winter of 1873, a small group of prospectors lost their way in the icy wilderness of the Colorado Rockies. His name was Alfred G. Packer, though he would soon become infamous throughout the country under another name: “The Man-Eater”.

After the butchered remains of his five companions were discovered in a remote valley by the Gunnison River, Packer disappeared for nine years, becoming the most wanted man in the West. A tale of evasion and punishment as the trial of the century works to unravel the truth from myth and Polly Pry, a once-famous pioneer journalist, stands up to Packer’s defense. Man-Eater is the definitive tale of a legendary crime – a gripping tale of unspeakable suffering, desperate struggle for survival, and battle to uncover the truth.

I am an avid fan of true crime and a more ardent fan of cannibalism. With that in mind, I should have loved this book. Teacher went in there, I found it faint.

This claim has nothing to do with the author and everything related to the topic. Alfred Packer is not interesting. He’s a bit fuzzy, a petty delinquent, and happens to be cannibals. He’s not Dahmer or Gein, that’s for sure. His life wasn’t very interesting to read, but Schechter did his best. However, what is unusual in his story is all the interesting things that happen to those around the infamous cannibal.
