Slanted – Free Full Audiobook
Slanted is an educational book by author Sharyl Attkisson.
New York Times bestselling author Sharyl Attkisson takes on media coverage of Black Lives Matter, coronavirus, Joe Biden, Silicon Valley censorship, and more.
When the truth doesn’t fit their story, the media will give up on the truth, not the story. Virtually every piece of information you receive through the media has been massaged, shaped, organized, and manipulated before reaching your hands. Some of them are completely censored. News can no longer be counted to reflect all events. Instead of telling us what happened yesterday, they tell us what’s new in the prepackaged soap opera they call news.
Over the past four years, five-time Emmy Award-winning investigative journalist and New York Times bestselling author Sharyl Attkisson has collected and dissected alarming facts tracing the shocking transfer of What was once the most prestigious news organization on the planet. For the first time ever, top news executives and reporters represent every major television news outlet in the nation – every major national television news agency – from ABC, CBS, NBC and CNN to FOX and MSNBC – talk frankly, confide in Attkisson about the death of the news as they once knew it. Their concerns transcend partisan divisions.
Most terrifying was an extensive media campaign that convinced many Americans to not only accept but demand press censorship. It is an act of genius by those who seek to influence public opinion to undermine public trust in the news, then insist on “censoring” information and divination “truth”. The thinking is done for you. They will decide which pesky facts should not cross your desk by declaring them false, irrelevant, debunked, unsafe, or off-limits.
We have reached a state of utter absurdity, where journalism schools teach students that their personal truth or chosen stories are more important than reality. In Slanted, Attkisson delves into the language of propagandists, the persistence of false stories in the media, the dynamics behind today’s dangerous mix of truth and opinion, the disapproval abandon journalistic ethics and a new, Orwellian definition of what it means to report.
This was very informative and somewhat enlightening in some respects. Lots of insider experiences and interviews shed light on what goes on inside media corporations and how they determine what news they want you to know or how they want to present it. Great book.
