The Deck of Omens – Audiobook Online
The Deck of Omens is the second book in the “The Devouring Gray” series by Christine Lynn Herman. The book picks up where the first book left off, following the four teens who discovered their magical powers and uncovered the dark history of their town, Four Paths. As they continue to unravel the mysteries of Four Paths, they must also deal with the aftermath of their battle against the Beast. The group must confront old enemies and make new alliances as they try to prevent the Gray from consuming everything in its path. The story revolves around the Deck of Omens, a mysterious tarot deck that holds the key to defeating the Gray, but also has the power to destroy those who use it. The group must navigate their relationships with each other, their families, and their own powers to unlock the secrets of the deck and save their town. Along the way, they uncover a conspiracy that goes deeper than they ever imagined, and are forced to make difficult choices that will change their lives forever. The Deck of Omens is a thrilling and suspenseful continuation of the first book, filled with magic, action, and unexpected twists.

Although the Beast seems to have been subdued, now a new threat is looming in the Four Paths: corruption is spreading from Gray into the forest. And with the other Founders preoccupied with their tangled alliances and fractured relationships, only May Hawthorne seemed to realize the danger. Saving the town she loves means seeking help from the person her family despises most – her father.
But he’s not the only newcomer in town – Isaac Sullivan’s brother has also returned, seeking forgiveness for his role in Isaac’s troubled past. But Isaac isn’t ready to give up his family’s history, especially since that history may hold the key he and Violet Saunders need to destroy Gray and the monster within it.
Harper Carlisle is not ready to forgive either. Two devastating betrayals have left her isolated from her family and unsure of who to trust. As corruption becomes inescapable, Harper must learn to control her new-found powers to protect the Four Paths. But the only people who can help her do it are the ones who have hurt her the most.
With the veil between Gray and the town ever thinner, the descendants of the Founder must put their grievances aside to stop the corruption and destroy the Beast once and for all. But perhaps the monster they really needed to defeat was never a Beast….
Solid and enjoyable read. By now your connected to this family of characters. I enjoyed thus book, and am looking forward to see what happens with May’s discovery.
