It was 2 a.m. on a Saturday night in the spring of 2001, 28-year-old Cecily Gardner, sitting alone in a casual bar in New York’s East Village, wondering about her life. Feeling lonely and homesick for the Midwest, she wonders if she’ll ever be a big-city reporter – and if she’ll make the terrible mistake of breaking up with her friend. her longtime son, Matthew or not.

As Cecily reached for the phone to call him, she heard a guy sitting on the stool next to her say, “Don’t do that – you’ll regret it.” Something told her to listen, and over the next few hours – along with sips of tequila – the two made an unlikely connection. It was the right thing to do, the two decided the next morning, as Cecily reminded herself of the perils of a rebound relationship. What’s more, their timing couldn’t be worse – Grant is preparing to quit his job and move abroad. However, despite all the obstacles, they can’t seem to say goodbye, and for the first time in her carefully constructed life, Cecily follows her heart instead of her head.

Then Grant disappeared into the chaos of 9/11. Fearing the worst, Cecily sees his face on a missing person poster and realizes that she isn’t the only one looking for him. First off I have been a devoted Emily Giffin fan since her first book came out. Her writing is everything you look for in an incredible author. Her stories keep you on the edge of your seat and just keeps blowing your mind with ever turn of a page. That being said, you will definitely not be disappointed by this book! The tale it weave and intertwines is by far Emily’s greatest book to date! I have read many mixed reviews and honestly I don’t understand it at all! If you love Emily as much as I do, you will love this new book.
