The Masked Baron by Anneka Walke is good book. The summary of the novel is about Andalin who is asked to leave with her father on a mysterious journey. They end up in the Black Forest and face danger until they are rescued by the notorious Dark Rider. However, the Dark Rider asks for a price for his help and takes Andalin with him, leaving her fate unknown as it depends on the dark secrets of the masked man.

This is my first book by this relatively new author but if all her books capture and hold my attention like this one did, it won’t be the last. my same. I don’t want to put it down. There is so much to love about this story. First, there’s the Dark Rider – is he as scary a highwayman as the stories in the surrounding towns say about him? There’s Andalin, who was brought to the Dark Rider’s house by his father to live, but why would he do that? And there’s a Beauty and the Beast feel to the story for all of us who still love fairy tales.

Andalin/Annie is a braver girl than I ever expected. She willingly accompanies her father to the home of a man she discovers to be the infamous Dark Rider. At first, she didn’t know why Ellison/Ellis wanted her there, so she made things a little harder for him (and herself) until she realized she was acting a little. acted like a child, then she began to change her attitude. There’s no way I’d follow anyone into the dark woods at night; just reading about it is enough for me.

Ellison/Ellis is very mysterious. From the very beginning I doubted the stories of the Dark Knight to be true. That’s the only thing I get right in this story. The reason why Ellison wears a mask is not what you think. One of my favorite scenes is when Andalin sees him without a mask. He is a great character and I fell in love with him before the end of the book.
