Rub! I read this book with the same enthusiasm as I have read the other seven books in this series and all the books written by Jodi Taylor. I have to say they made me feel very lost halfway through when Clive Roman appeared and then disappeared again. The Time Police were the ones who interfered with what the two sides agreed to when Clive surrendered to Max. Instead, they appear and Clive takes off in his guise but not until he threatens Max with ‘I will kill everyone you love but you will live to suffer.’ how horrible it was I worried throughout the book that Leon was gone forever but learned a lot about the Battle at Hastings and how William the Conqueror became King of England. I am always amazed how a historian like Jodi Taylor can write such humorous books. What begins as a set of unhappy circumstances turns out to be okay in the end. Reading these books in order, you need to know the characters in the first book to make sense of the things in each subsequent book. Book 8 summarizes some of what was left over from the previous books. It’s a great read and a great listen. The narrator is amazing and the voice of Saint Mary. Zara Ramm is amazing!

Darkest St. Mary’s Yet…
Do not read this book if you are not in a stable place, because it is a roller coaster with more ups and downs. As usual, even the saddest observations are delivered with the irony and witty tone we all know and love. Even so, violence as well as moments of depression are presented for this film, and it can be quite rough at times. I’m waiting for the next installment!
