Four to Score is the fourth novel in the Stephanie Plum series featuring the bounty hunter and her friends in New Jersey. It is written by Janet Evanovich. It is a crime and mystery thriller. Janet is an author who needs no introduction because her books have appeared on the USA Today Best Selling Books list at #1 eleven times and NY Times Best Seller list at #1 seventeen times. Hence, with such a solid resume, make sure you give her book Look Alive Twenty-Five a consideration. Also, she is the author of Twisted Twenty-Six.

C.J. Critt keeps getting better as the narrator of this book as she goes deeper into the series. This is perhaps her best performance yet as she might be completely in sync with the characters at this point. The only issue with her at this point is that her comedic timing is a bit off.
Stephanie is outraged to learn that her boss and cousin Vinnie has hired another bounty hunter along with her. And that other person is none other than her arch-rival – Joyce Barnhardt. Vinnie tells her to be professional and instead focus on the task at hand. She has to bring in Maxine Nowicki, a waitress who was accused of stealing her ex’s car and failed to appear in court.

Eddie then gives Stephanie a series of coded messages from Maxine that is about a property. Eddie also wants to talk to Maxine before she is delivered to the police, to which Stephanie agrees for a thousand dollars. Now, she must get on the case and solve it.

This book is a comedy more and then it’s a mystery. The characters have slowly become a caricature of themselves but that is where their charm lies. The story is perhaps weak as it doesn’t appear to be logical for a major chunk of the audience.
