The series is written by James Patterson who is a world-renowned author. He was the first author whose e-books had sold a million copies. Michael Kramer didn’t do a satisfactory job as the narrator of this book. Something is off about his performance. It is either that it is an old recording or it is not a high-quality recording. To compound the problem, his effort to give everyone different voices doesn’t pan out in a good way.

This novel starts with a teenage boy in 1975 who kills his first four victims. He is to become a future serial killer by the name of Casanova. Elsewhere, another killer who has dubbed himself as “The Gentleman Caller” kills a couple on a lake.

A reporter investigating a series of murders ends up dead in Los Angeles. Also, in North Carolina, a beautiful medical intern disappears suddenly. Alex Cross gets on the case to solve the most baffling series of murders ever. It seems like two killers are cooperating, collaborating, and even competing. They are also working coast to coast.

This is a fascinating story that is held down by subpar narration. There is a lot of thrill around the start and the end; however, the middle can get a bit dull. Since it is building up towards the end, we can look over the dullness.
