Audiobook Online – Of Mice and Men By John Steinbeck
Hear touching novel associated with the labor class by John Steinbeck appeared on the scene back in the 1930s. The novel has so much strength in his words that its impact cannot be denied even now. Two men who are different in each and everything meets in a deserted place, together the two try to start a life on the ranch.
Troubles of different kinds surround Lennie and George right from the first day on the ranch. Lennie was a tall man with some memory and understanding issues, George on the other hand was short and wise. George after seeing the mental condition of Lennie decided to help him in every mean possible.
He took Lennie to the ranch with him and introduced him as his brother who needed his help. Later George introduced Lennie to his friend as his best friend who has been with him since his childhood.
These lies failed to help the two and the poor guy with mental issues had to run from the scene. The novel ends with a tragedy when the tall guy gets a bullet in the gut accidentally. However, only one other than George knows the truth i.e Lennie was shot by George. The Grapes of Wrath and East of Eden also have tragedies but this is the most heart touching as it is attached to the labor class.
Poor people usually live through such situations in life when they fail to face the world manly. Getting rid of the problem forever seems to be the perfect solution for them. Narrator Gary Sinise starts well but there is certain trembling of voice issues in the later chapters. Such issues in narration can be ignored if you get more involved in the story.
