Bronson Pinchot usually gives a solid performance when narrating his books. This one is no different; however, slight criticism is warranted. He appears to overact sometimes. The voice gets too loud and makes the listener nervous. He also makes a statement sound like a question sometimes. Ignoring some of these nitpicks; his performance has positive aspects overshadowing the shortcomings.

There are no rules and no help is coming as the end of the world is just the beginning of the hunt. Police Chief Colton and tracker Spears were never really fond of one another. However, when a girl goes missing, the Chief has to employ the help of Spears to find her.

Their search ends abruptly. News reaches the Chief that the country has been attacked by an electromagnetic pulse attack that has destroyed the systems of the nation. Then, they realize that the killer they were trying to find in the middle of this war was just the start of the destruction that was about to follow.

The book focuses on the issue of EMP technology which seems more and more real as time passes and our weapons become more sophisticated than yesterday. It is too real of a threat and governments should be taking steps to protect us from such weapons.
