Nicholas Sparks has written a lot about love throughout his career but love in his books has been different than the average one. Most of the time the story has been knit between the present and the past in Nicholas’ works, this one too is not very different than The Return and The Rescue. The pattern resembles the other books by the author but not the story, also Amanda Collier and Dawson Cole are not like other characters we have heard before. 

The story begins when the audience is told about the events that took place twenty-five years ago. It was the end of their teenage and high school when Amanda and Dawson fell in love. Being madly in love with each other they use to think about nothing else in those days. Then something between them broke and their love remained incomplete. Paths of the two lovers were separated forever after they migrated to different places.

 Now after a span of twenty-five years, they return because their guru has died. Tuck their mentor guided them in every passion during their youth and not only that he also provided them the chance to come close to one another. However, after his death when the two came together they understood that he was not the kind of man that they thought he was. Several truths about Tuck just amaze the two ex-lovers who made a bond once just because of Tuck. Sean Pratt gets a complex and complicated book to narrate this time as the book possesses feelings of love, hate, and surprise too on a lot of occasions.
