Death in a Strange Country – Commissario Brunetti Mysteries Book 2

Death in a Strange Country is the second novel in the Commissario Brunetti Mysteries series by author Donna Leon. The second installment of a long-running series about Brunetti and here we see Leon introduce a more formalized element to her emotional way of talking. The problems of the US military in Europe, of toxic dirt and the cover-up of high-ranking institutions with more inland landscapes than in Venice. Particularly powerful are the portraits of a Sicilian mother and her petty crime; and the active is Unknown of the headage of Brunetti.

This novel revolves around murder mysteries and a robbery, all of which are tasked by Brunetti to solve. A young man was found dead floating in the water in a canal in Venice. Brunetti has to kill one of my close troops at an Army base near the United States, all that remains is a marker of horrendous horror.

But following his analysis, Brunetti dug deeper and discovered a level sound related to the US military at the base. They determine why and how to develop the service as his Superior also wants to sweep all this under the rug.

Then there was the case where an American doctor at an American military base outside town near Venice was found dead on the premises of her home from a heroin overdose. In the Venetian palace of a Milanese industrialist was broken into, its owner was hospitalized for beatings. All three of these cases for Brunetti were thefts and dangerous cases. His investigation into all these mysteries is led by his boss, a lazy and lazy Sicilian with a flashy title.

The boss Brunetti, who is only interested in pleasing those in power and the discoveries made by defying his orders. This is a book Commissario Brunetti that takes a unique approach to the crimes he has been accused of in the past.

We are mesmerized by Commissario Brunetti’s ability to communicate with his problem-solving and key takeaways. He’s the model we all want to have as a boss.

Donna Leon has lived in Venice for 25 years. Her books have been translated into many languages - but not, at her request, sung in Italian. Death in a Strange Country theme is corruption. Leon’s depiction of Italian society and especially the Italian judicial system is by no means boring.

Leon has translated his novel into many languages around the world.

I love Commissario Brunetti’s stories and his unique approach to dealing with the things he was assigned to do in the past. The scene in Italy is a particularly valuable one. But in this book, I picked out a plane of subculture that I hadn’t absorbed before. With its great history, religious heritage, architecture, strong family, and more, her people have learned to distrust authorities and governments with good reason. Anti-and skepticism towards language references can be seen here through Guido’s interactions and it’s hard to accept. All in all, he wins with truth and technology despite overwhelming odds. Bitter and bitter!

This is possibly my favorite murder mystery series and I’ve read a lot over the years. We invite you to listen to the next development of this fascinating book Death in a Strange Country.
