As the last book in the trilogy, we know what to expect from the narration of the reliable Marisa Calin. She is undoubtedly fantastic and with every character she plays, she does so with a full heart. It shows because her performance is one of the best things about this audiobook, which otherwise is held back by a weak storyline.

Ever since Gwen discovered that she was the final member of the Circle of Twelve, nothing is going right in her life. She has the destiny to fulfill, but no one is telling her what it is. And to put things into perspective, it hasn’t even been this long since she found out about her family. As far as she knows, it is Count Saint-German who is up to no good, as he is the founder of the Circle. No one is willing to believe her though.

Gwen has also been suspicious of Gideon. She thinks that he has been using her all this time. Who she thought was her charming time travel partner seems like a fraud now. As the novel reaches heights of romance and intrigue, Gwen finally discovers the secrets of the time-traveling society and her fate.

The ending of the series is a bit anticlimactic. There wasn’t major growth in the main characters, whereas the secondary characters stole our hearts. They were the ones we were waiting to hear from more, such as Lesley and the gargoyle. Gwen and Gideon were flat for the most past.
