Raised in Fire is the 2nd book of the Demon Days, Vampire Nights series, and the Fire and Ice series authored by K. F. Breene. It is an urban fantasy fiction novel and it is followed by Fused in Fire. Besides this, Breene is a distinguished author as a bestseller of top publications like Wall Street Journal and Washington Post. The narrator Nicole Poole always does justice to Breene’s books. She is fantastic as the female lead character in this one.

Reagan is someone who is always ending up in nasty situations. She is Lucifer’s daughter and is supposed to reign in hell. However, she doesn’t want to and is content with her job as a bounty hunter. She doesn’t want to be noticed by the demons hell-bent on bringing her back into her dad’s inner circle.

Darius is pulled to Reagan like a magnet. He may not like to admit it but she stirs feelings inside of him. He’s a vampire so is he supposed to have feelings? She seems to be pulling him back to his humanity.

The killings of New Orleans are now cropping up in Seattle. The office there isn’t doing anything about it. That is because they’re being silenced by the Mages’ Guild. News of Reagan’s magic has also taken the underworld by storm, hitting the ears of some dangerous demons.

What was supposed to be a routine murder investigation has turned into a fight of their life. Darius and Reagan have to work together to escape this ultimate test.

This is a nice little adventurous and romantic read in a world of fantasy. It’s much funnier than the first novel and overall it is an enjoyable experience.
