Anne Stuart took me to the Place she found so easy, where to read great books. I admire her soggy heroes, men who gave up everything to do what they felt was right and beneficial. She takes characters so dark she can’t stand the light and brings them out with female characters of great concern. This time, however, we have two people who fought hard, and even if one deserves death, the heart is still a lone hunter.

Isobel Lambert is the head of the Commission, an organization whose purpose is to keep their world from being vandalized. She has learned to be hardworking and competent. No one knows her real name or anything about her. Except she gets the job done.
