Jolie Blon’s Bounce – Audiobook Online

Jolie Blon’s Bounce is the 12th mystery novel in the Dave Robicheaux series by author James Lee Burke.
When a beautiful teenage girl is murdered, the victim of a particularly brutal rape, New Iberia, Louisiana police detective Dave Robicheaux senses from the outset of the investigation that the most likely suspect – Tee Bobby Hulin – not the real killer. Hulin doesn’t fit the profile for this heinous crime. When another body emerges – a drug-addicted prostitute, the daughter of a local mafia boss – all clues point to Tee Bobby Hulin. The dead girl’s father sets out to find – and punish – the killer.

Before Robicheaux can bring the killer or murderers to justice. He must battle an addiction to painkillers, the habit of humiliating beatings he suffered at the hands of a demonic figure known only as the Legion. Once the supervisor of a local sugarcane plantation, Legion made a living doing odd jobs. In terms of temperament, he is still an evil bully, possessing supernatural survival skills.

When Robicheaux’s longtime friend Clete Purcel stopped by New Iberia for a visit. He is quickly drawn into a struggle between evil forces – including Jimmy Dean Styles, a black man intent on perpetuating his corrupt empire; Joe Zeroski, a trailer park mafioso with palatial aspirations; and Legion Guidry, in which Robicheaux faced an enemy unlike any he had ever known. The duel becomes a dance of death.

I finished reading Jolie Blon’s Bounce last night and I think I love it more this time than I did when I first read it 5 years ago. It’s part of Burke’s amazing Dave Robicheaux series set in New Iberia, Louisiana, and it boils down to an atmosphere from alligators peering through the hanging tree trunks full of Spanish fun to These people are fearsome dark clouds of fog hovering over the Gulf of Mexico but do not come ashore to entertain the relentless drought and heat.

Dave Robicheaux is possibly one of the most interesting characters in American literature, a heartbroken cop with a history of addiction and bad luck with women. James Lee Burke is possibly one of the finest writers in American literature with a gift for description, in both character and setting, so finely tuned that it’s strange that you realize the writing takes you off course. the way to the story.
