In the wars and conspiracies stemming from Charis’ declaration of independence, the populous Siddermark Republic is falling into chaos.

The Clytahn representative of the Church of God at harvest time, King Cayleb of Charis, his queen Sharleyan, and Merlin Arthawes will do their best to prevent the mass famine in Siddermark while also transporting enough combat units. on land to fend off “volunteers” from the Church’s Temple Lands. While Vicar Clyntahn was praised by the Church for his daring and daring, there were still those who remembered how the Church’s power depended on money from Siddermark… and wondered what would happen. if Siddermark starves to death.
With a vivid history, Midst Toil and Tribulation will take the series’ audience to the next level.

I like the Safehold series although this book is a bit lacking in conclusion, I wish this part of the story had a more definitive ending. As the story span expands, it’s sometimes difficult to keep track of who’s who. I think the story was driven by events rather than by characters. For me, that undermines it overall, but even though I stick with it, I like the plot and the idea.
