It is notable for its depiction of homosexuality, which was considered scandalous at the time of publication. The novel has been adapted into numerous film and stage productions, and is considered a classic of English literature.

I have heard about this book several times over the years, I finally decided to read it for myself. It’s brilliantly written, with a slow plot twist and a dramatic, abrupt ending that captured my soul. Lord Henry’s endless speeches were tedious, so I often skipped them. Wilde’s depictions of things, such as Dorian’s garden or collectibles, are superbly constructed. Overall, this book is definitely worth a read and gives you some thoughts on the ethics, beauty, and consequences of choices.

I decided that the best thing to remember for my father was to order an oil painting of his portrait. It is a wonderful picture of him riding a magical horse and blooming the land with his grace. I was thinking of giving him this book to match the sentiment. Luckily, I read the book and it made me reevaluate my life. I am also old, but still attractive to all genders. I haven’t committed murder so I don’t have a life lesson. Oh, but my dad really liked his picture. Even if he doesn’t admit it out loud.
