Minimum of Two is a children’s book by author Tim Winton.
Tim Winton’s characters are ordinary people fighting to remain loyal in the face of adversity; women, children, men. Their relationships become strained under pressure and leave them bewildered, hopeful, sometimes running away, but often finding strength in forgotten parts of themselves.

Minimum of Two is a collection of short stories by Australian author Tim Winton. What makes them special is the honesty that Winton conveys with his own style. The stories are ostensibly short and simply written, but as you read them, you’ll see that what he doesn’t say is just as important as what he does. He conveys in a few carefully chosen words, which less successful writers take pages to understand. His words give readers the opportunity to think for themselves and make them more moved when the connection between the writer and the reader is established. He became an exceptional writer and this collection of stories is worth having.

As a book used in English and Literature classes, it is not the most engaging material for students. The adult setting and problems of many short stories do not appeal to many younger students. Not the best choice for a high school English class.
