Patterns in the Dark is the fourth science fiction book in the Dragon Blood series by author Lindsay Buroker.
Everyone knows dragons have been extinct for more than 1000 years.

Everyone is wrong.

At least one dragon remains, and military scientists from the Cofah Empire are testing its blood, using magical substances to power deadly new weapons that can be used to make the world must kneel. Zirkander, Cas and the rest of the Iskandians are concerned, but all Tolemek wants is to find his missing sister. The last time he saw her, their father locked her in a refugee camp because of an incurable mental illness. Now the army has taken her. What good would Cofah do to her, Tolemek could only guess, but he was sure she was in danger. He had to save her before it was too late. Her fate is inexplicably tied to the dragon, and he must figure it out to find her.

The characters are great, the places they go are imaginative and interesting.

The story is still fast-paced and interesting and it seems to be heading in an amazing direction. They found a dragon…..love it. This won’t be a spoiler because there’s a lot more to the last sentence!!

The story is a bit deadlocked but I really don’t care (for once!) because I really, really, want the next book to see what happens.

If you want to read something a little different then I recommend this series. However, start at the beginning as you will get a better feel for the characters.
