“Perestroika in Paris” is a fascinating little novel. A book about talking animals can be a bit treacherous, but this book is just right – light but not too sweet. I was just about to write, “How can you not like a light novel set in Paris?” But then I remembered I had just finished a boiler in Paris bubbling with the worst chicken-lit tropical thing imaginable. So it is possible to hate a book set in Paris, but this one is not. “Perestroika” will cleanse your palate from the bitterness of 2020.
