Pictures of Lily is a literary fiction book by author Paige Toon.
I think of you, then. I think about you every day. But it’s usually at the quietest part of the morning, or the darkest part of the night. Not when my boyfriend of two years just proposed.

Ten years ago, when Lily was sixteen years old, she fell in love with someone she shouldn’t have. Now, living in Sydney and engaged to another man, she can’t forget who’s gone. Then the past comes back to haunt her, and she must make a decision that will break her heart – and the heart of at least one of the men who love her.

Paige Toon is one of my favorite authors. That’s why I shouldn’t be surprised to not be able to put the book down after reading the first chapter before bed, as I had intended. Instead I read the entire book.

Paige has a writing style that keeps you hooked from the first page and keeps you hooked throughout the book. I was torn between Ben and Richard. I really feel that Lily has made a really difficult decision and I also feel sorry for her to have to make such a choice. But in the end, I think she did the right thing, for the right reasons. There are a lot of surprises in the making and the book never falls into the tried and tested traps found in most women’s/women’s books.
