Planetfall: A Story of the Dark is a science fiction book by author J. A. Sutherland.
Denholm Carew enjoys a life that many people envy. Coming from a wealthy New London family, he could have almost anything he wanted. But what he wants more than anything is the freedom to go his own way and build his own legacy to pass on to his children. Along with his wife, Lynelle, he sold everything to buy shares in a colonial company and settled in the newly discovered world of Dalthus IV.

This is an accomplished author with very well developed characters with interesting and funny dialogue.

I like this author. In this book, however, he broke a big rule. An author should develop likable characters and put them in terrible situations, and get them out of there with their wits. If someone dies, it should be a supporting character.

There are two main characters in this book. One is the most adorable, the other the most adorable. The character I most wanted to read about died. While tragic, it greatly reduced my interest in the story.
