Pop Goes the Weasel By James Patterson
Pop Goes the Weasel is a novel by James Patterson which is also the fifth novel in the Alex Cross series. It is a psychological and crime fiction that features the officer and psychologist we are familiar with. He has to deal with a villain who goes by the name Geoffrey Shafer. Another famous book by the author which you should consider is The Black Book. The Russian is also worth a read was written by Patterson.
Michael Kramer is quite breathless as the narrator for this audiobook. He is frequently out of breath which causes a lot of distraction. His sound in general and his sentences are very breathy. This is just the approach that this book has taken but it doesn’t suit the listener at all to sit through this.
This book starts with our rich and well-dressed villain, Shafer. As he rushes into oncoming traffic on the road, we realize that he is a British Diplomat who has diplomatic immunity. He starts to lose control later on. Ultimately, he decides to play a game called the Four Horsemen. He decides to play the part of Death. As the game starts, he picks up a prostitute in the red light district and calls the other Horsemen.
Also, Detective Cross is back and is in love. Alas, his romance life is interrupted because of a series of terrifying murders in Washington. Cross’s investigation leads him to a man by the name – Geoffrey Shafer. However, proving his involvement is the difficult part. Thus commences a battle in and out of the court between them. Cross might have finally found his match.
Besides the awful performance, the book itself is much more than fine. We know what to expect from Patterson and Alex Cross. This one certainly doesn’t disappoint.
