A young dancer, penniless and desperate, is sure she’ll go crazy when a cat starts talking to her mind. But her cat guide, actually an Elemental Earth Spirit, helps her impersonate a famous Russian ballerina and achieve the success she’s always dreamed of. Unfortunately, she also attracts the attention of another Elemental Spirit – a much more dangerous Elemental Spirit – and the young dancer must once again turn to her mysterious powerful four-legged furry friend.

Mercedes Lackey is an author I came across by chance. Not suitable for those who like to read a lot of depth, but is an interesting escape from reality. I discovered fantasy fiction after retiring, having been introduced to it by my daughter, and I must say that I enjoyed this new branch of literature. You don’t always discover something so new at my age.

This is one of Mercedes Lackey’s Master of the Elements series, and one of the most interesting. I really liked how they developed the main character as a performer, and built the love story between her and the elemental master who fell in love with her. The plot is extremely well done, starring Dick Whittington and Puss in Boots. I hope you will enjoy this book.
