River Of Blue Fire Otherland Book 2 – Audiobook Online
River Of Blue Fire – Otherland, Book 2, Audiobook Online By: Tad Williams
Other country. In many ways, it is humanity’s greatest achievement: a private, multi-dimensional universe built over two generations by the greatest minds of the 21st century.
But this unique place is also a one of the world’s best kept secrets, created and controlled by an organization composed of the world’s most powerful and ruthless individuals, a private gang known – with those who know the their existence – is The Holy Grail Fraternity. While their purpose in creating Otherland remains a mystery, it may not last long. For they have cost humanity dearly in the process, and even their highly organized global conspiracy cannot hide their criminal nature forever. And now, a small group of adventurers have penetrated the veil of secrecy that prevents the unknown from entering Otherland.
But when they break into the wonderful worlds within the worlds that make up this universe, they become trapped, unable to escape back to their own flesh-and-blood bodies in the real world. And when dangers and circumstances divide their group into small, widely dispersed groups, the only hope for them to reunite is to return to the River that flows – in one form or another – through all all worlds.
But the odds seem to be completely against them when they – and the only outsider they can join forces with – become hopelessly lost in a realm where the fears of an Ice Age tribe only exist. can be extinguished with blood – where insects are as big and dangerous as dinosaurs – where they get caught up in a war between the straw man and the tin man – where cartoon commercials have a life of their own – where humans try to survive an alien invasion – and where one of their party is actually The Grail Brotherhood’s most feared weapon – a sociopath killer has never failed and whose current mission is to ensure that not even a single member of this tiny invading force lives long enough to reveal the truth about Otherland to the people of Earth.
For those who like fast speed and flying bullets, book two of the series is probably not for you. But if you like slow and immersive construction, if you like stories built around people and their psyche, then this book and this series are for you. It’s not fast, it’s not spectacular, and I like it for that.
It’s wild that I liked this book more than the first of the series. While the first book takes 90% of the time to take the first step into another land, this book spends most of our time there and things always work out. It’s the constant movement of the pieces and it makes you want to hear more about each sequence of the story. Ramses showed up for the first time and he was great. Paul jonas, the least exciting part of the first book, has now become a very compelling character, and everyone’s story increasingly sheds light on what’s really going on in Otherland.
