Slayer Warhammer Chronicles – Audiobook Free

Slayer is the 14th science fiction book in the series: Gotrek and Felix by author David Guymer.
Gotrek and Felix: unsung heroes of the Empire, or nothing more than ordinary thieves and murderers? The truth probably lies somewhere in between and completely depends on who you ask….

With their friendship shattered after a series of betrayals, Gotrek and Felix march south as the head of a ragtag army, intending to drive the Chaos forces out of the Empire and return Felix to his wife. his. But Gotrek’s apocalypse is near, and great powers are working to ensure that he meets it. With enemies on all sides and fate beckoning, Felix must make a choice: follow Gotrek into the darkness that awaits him or abandon his oldest friend once and for all.

The Ultimate Adventures of Gotrek and Felix. It was all revealed when Gotrek encountered his fate and Felix’s fate was sealed. The story follows the final duel between teammates and their greatest enemy ever, Be’lakor. The battle was like never before, taking them from the forest of the Empire into the air and to the Kingdom of Chaos.

This is the penultimate Gotrek & Felix story. There are a lot of loose ends bound here: will Felix ever see his wife and children again? What will happen to Max? Will Gotrek meet his fate? Can the heroes hope to stop the wave of chaos?

Guymer does a great job with the action scenes, and the one with the bridge and the gyroscope is done exceptionally well. The twists are carefully planned, the foreshadowings shady enough, and the villains evil enough. On top of that, the conversation between Gotrek and Felix was very well done. These people really feel like friends, and that relationship takes this rope to a whole new level beyond the usual Warhammer stories. Of the “End Times” series, this series and its predecessor, Kinslayer, are easily the best.

The weakness of this book is the limitations imposed by the “End Times” plot. In an effort to make things seem EPIC-appropriate, our heroes must battle an army of beastmen, trolls, and goblins. What should have been supernatural and unique has become completely natural and mundane. It’s like—ho hum—DIFFERENT Bloodthirsty Khorne’s. It’s good that this series is over; Poor Gotrek and Felix have run out of things to fight.

A return to form for the series, and perhaps not quite the end to the cycle it deserves, but better than I feared reading the previous book. And yes, Guymer is still no match for William King, who invented the characters and wrote the first novels. But this book rates at least a solid “B” for effort and faithfulness to the canon.
