Sliding Scales A Pip & Flinx Adventure – Audiobook Online
Sliding Scales – Pip & Flinx (chronological order), Book 9, Pip & Flinx (published order), Book 10, Audiobook Online By: Alan Dean Foster
From New York Times bestselling author Alan Dean Foster comes a fantastic new Pip and Flinx adventure starring a 24-year-old redhead with emerald eyes and uncanny abilities and his devoted little dragon guardian.
Time and time again, this daring pair has defied countless dangers to win. But now Flinx tries to do something that might have been impossible for the formerly undefeated hero. His mission: go on vacation. Never before had the concerns of the universe weighed so heavily on Flinx’s shoulders, and the forces arrayed against him seemed so invincible. Chased by a newly revealed doomsday fanatical cult, hunted by factions inside and outside the Commonwealth for real and imagined transgressions, expected to single-handedly stop An impending galactic crisis (or responsibility for the aftermath), Flinx can be forgiven if feeling a little melancholy. There is only one solution to Flinx’s problem, according to his onboard artificial intelligence. But taking time off is hard work.
With an increasing number of enemies pursuing him with ever greater enthusiasm, the Flinx must find a refuge in the dark. Jast, a planet in the middle of nowhere, is the perfect location. However, even in a place where almost no one has ever seen a human, Flinx and trouble can’t stay apart for long. Unfortunately, Flinx doesn’t know that his resort paradise is in fact a dangerous area of the highest degree. And by the time he learns the truth, it may be too late.
If you’ve enjoyed any of the other books by Pip and Flinx, you shouldn’t miss this one. Flinx’s encounters with Aan in these books provide a good perspective. A perspective on how something can be both truly alien and truly human at the same time. A good space adventure that is both relaxing and entertaining.
I’ve chosen this rating because of the fact that it’s a really good book about one of the few that surpasses “alien” equality. There is good and bad in all species, cultures, income levels or intelligence regardless of appearance. It is a good book, easy to read, but with a complicated plot for the reader looking for it. As a stand-alone book, it holds its own, being part of a series, this is the 9th book and seems a bit… repetitive in some respects.
