Soul Music/ Discworld, Book 16 – Audiobook Online

Soul Music is the 16th science fiction book in the Discworld series by author Terry Pratchett.
The Soul Music audiobook is narrated by BAFTA award-winning actor Sian Clifford.
‘This doesn’t look like magic. It feels so much older than that. It’s like music.’

Sixteen is always difficult, but it’s even harder when there’s Death in the family. Susan really didn’t have a normal upbringing, with a bony grandfather riding a white horse and wielding a scythe.

When Death decides he needs a well-earned break, he lets Susan take over the family business. The only problem is, everyone mistook her for the Tooth Fairy…

Well, not the only problem. There’s a new, addictive kind of music in Discworld. That is lawless. It changes people. It has a beat and you can dance to it.

It’s called Music with Rocks In. And it won’t go away…

The Discworld novels can be heard in any order, but Soul Music is the third book in the Death series.

The first book in the Discworld series—Colors of Magic—was published in 1983. Certain elements of the Discworld universe may reflect this.

How many times have you heard that? From the real rock stars to the teen-agers, there’s always something in music that takes hold of us, possesses us, and refuses to let go. Even if you’re not a big music lover, there are probably songs that can ease your mind, pull you out of a gloomy mood, or make your heart race. There are songs that will lift your heart and make you think that the world is a better place than it really is, and songs that will convince you that the dark heart of the world is also rotten and corrupt. as you still think. Music has a kind of magic in it that can reach the core of who we are when thinking – and more importantly, feeling – sentient beings.

That magic is dangerous enough in our world where magic doesn’t really exist. Imagine how powerful it would be for a place where magic is truly real. Like, to pick one out of thin air, Discworld.

I’m slowly revisiting the disc world series over the years and have almost forgotten about this book even though certain emotional and powerful scenes are ingrained in my memory. Once again, puns, jokes, morbidities, and brilliant characters jostle for space. Once again, the awesome character of Death confirms his place as one of my very favorite characters from Discworld. the previous novel, Reaper man, explored Death’s incredibly complex personality…..this book reveals even more intriguing aspects of this last Mr. Cool…… try if you can read the series in order although I personally wouldn’t mind the first two, but it’s a matter of opinion. It just makes the experience so much richer seeing how all the great characters develop.
