Tears of the Giraffe: More from the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency – Audiobook Online

Tears of the Giraffe is the second book in the No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series by Alexander McCall Smith. Set in Botswana, it follows the fictional private detective agency run by Mma Precious Ramotswe as she investigates various cases in her community. In this book, Mma Ramotswe is asked to help a woman find her long-lost son, track down a cheating husband, and take on a case involving a doctor accused of poisoning his own wife. At the same time, she continues to navigate the ups and downs of her personal life, including her relationship with Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni, her fiancé, and the owner of Tlokweng Road Speedy Motors. The book is humorous, heartwarming, and offers insights into African culture and daily life.

In this thoroughly entertaining book, the #1 Ladies’ Detective Agency bestselling, critically acclaimed author continues the story of Mma “Precious” Ramotswe, the clever owner of the only detective agency in Botswana.

Currently engaged to Mr. J.L.B. Matekoni, Mma Ramotswe faces the hostility of her fiancé’s unscrupulous maid, who quickly begins plotting to break the deal. Then an American woman asks for help to find out the truth behind her son’s disappearance in Africa, and Mma Ramotswe runs into all the trouble she can deal with.

Part detective story, part comedy of manners and part African travel tale, Tears of a Giraffe is an undeniable delight.

Few books are more satisfying to listen to than read. The richness of the reader’s voice, the rhythm of the language, and the purity of her voice, all combine to form a delicate and complete dish at the beginning of the Ramotswe stories. this precious Smith’s. This story involving an American, peripheral, connection to Botswana is created in a kind and believable manner. I started listening to these books out of order, and now I’m going to go back and listen to them all over again, which was very helpful to me, but each book stands alone and the characters are consistent and great. Each of Smith’s books is a love song for the people of Botswana, and for our ability to reach the pinnacle of dignity and kindness in all of us. This particular story contains some of the most heartbreaking situations imaginable and these are handled with an understanding and compassion that surpasses most acts on this planet. I don’t know if this is an accurate depiction of life along the Kalahari, but it is a wonderful one, and I thank Mr. Smith for each of his books, and Lisette Lecat for the narration in it her bright and perfect.
