There are so many things Jamie hates in her life: her dark hair, her father’s Stone Age Curfew Charter, her real name – Jamilah Towfeek. For the past three years, Jamie has hidden his Lebanese identity from everyone at school. Only with her email friend John can she truly be herself. But now things are getting complicated: the most popular guy in school is interested in her, but he wouldn’t be if he knew the truth. Then there was Timothy, the lonely student, for some reason Jamie couldn’t stop thinking. As for John, he seems to have a pretty big secret of his own.

This book is written more for a teen audience and I’m not a teen. However, I saw the title and thought it sounded like a good book. It really comes down to being comfortable with who you are and choosing your own identity. Many of the other reviews are basically summaries so I won’t retell the story but this is an easy read and I definitely recommend it. It solves some race problems. It is set in Australia and the main character is Muslim.
