On Christmas Eve five years ago, 17-year-old Holly Chase was visited by three Ghosts, who showed her how selfish and spoiled she had become. They tried to convince her to fix her ways. She didn’t. And then she died.

Now she’s stuck working for the top secret company Project Scrooge – as their newest Ghost of Christmas Past. So far, Holly’s afterlife has been miserable. But this year’s Scrooge is different. This year’s Scrooge could change everything….

Holly Chase’s Afterlife is a witty, poignant, and poignant novel about life, love, and seizing a second (or third) chance, perfect for listeners who love Before I Fall. or Dash and Lily’s Book of Dares.

I’ve read a lot of classic retellings and Holly Chase’s The Afterlife is the smartest one I’ve ever read. It’s slow to begin with. I didn’t like it in the first third. But then I became interested in Holly and so I fully invested. Although I’ve briefly considered that something like the epilogue could happen, I don’t think it’s possible and I really don’t expect how the whole ending will play out. It’s not the expected perfect ending I think it’s under construction, but it’s still an absolutely perfect ending. The author really did a great job to finish it off. I recommend this book to teens and up, especially those who enjoy A Christmas Carol.

This book made me laugh and cry and support the main character even though she is a ‘love hate’ type. I’m so glad I bought it. It’s the kind of reading I needed to get a breath of fresh air amidst all that you could imagine.

I ended up doing this in one go. For a classic story, it’s unique! The story is about a girl who is visited by three Christmas ghosts and does not change. It leads to her death and becoming one of the Christmas ghosts.

From the very first line, it got me hooked. It’s one of those stories that feels good with a Christmas atmosphere but feels so refreshing! A bit of found family, a bit of bad boys romance, an arc of redemption set in New York City. Each character in this book is lovable in their own way.

It’s everything magical, urban and spooky with romance and good friendship. I will probably read it again by Christmas ♥️
