The Art Of Learning – Audiobook Online

The Art Of Learning – Audiobook Online By: Josh Waitzkin

Josh Waitzkin knows what it means to be on top of his game. A public figure since winning his first national chess championship at the age of 9, Waitzkin was caught up in a media whirlwind as a teenager when his father’s book Finding Bobby Fischer was published made into a big movie.

After dominating the academic chess world for ten years, Waitzkin broadened his horizons, entering the martial art of Tai Chi and eventually earning the title of World Champion. How can he get to the top of two disciplines that appear so different on the surface? “I realized that what I am best at is not tai chi, nor chess,” he said. “What I’m best at is the art of learning.”

The Art of Learning takes listeners through Waitzkin’s unique journey to excellence. He clearly explains in detail the disciplined, well-thought-out approach to learning that separates success from failure. Waitzkin believes that achievement, even at the championship level, is a function of a lifestyle that fosters creative and resilient growth. Instead of focusing on the ultimate wins, Waitzkin reveals the inner workings of his daily method, from systematically triggering visual breakthroughs, to honing his success techniques, attitude has outstanding effect, to master the art of performing psychology.

In stories that range from his early years playing chess as a 7-year-old in New York City’s Washington Square Park, to facing the pressures of making a movie about his life. himself, to the International Chess Championships in India, Hungary and Brazil, to the thrilling battles against powerful fighters in Taiwan in the World Hand Push Championship, The Art of Learning encapsulates the Life lessons of an extraordinary opponent in a non-stop narrative.

It is very well written, profound, sometimes very engaging but still makes me feel deeply at peace. For the most part, I love biographies because I have insight into what Factors and Motivators are present in the lives of successful people but Josh took the time to not only tell the story but extrapolate the facts, the process that we’re working on got him there.

Enjoyed the Art of Learning. I was one of the people who discovered Josh Waitzkin through the movie; however, years later, when I started going back to chess and looking up Mr. Waitzkin, I discovered how far he had come outside of the chess world. Pick up the audiobook and it’s packed with knowledge and insight into the problem of human performance. Will definitely listen to it again and again.
