It’s true that she doesn’t have to sleep in a chimney, but she does have to deal with arrogant stuffed-shirt princes who strive to rise above their place in the story. In fact, one of them was so evil that Elena could do nothing but turn him into a donkey.

However, her down-to-earth nature couldn’t let him roam the country, so she brought along the donkey – eh, prince! – Go home, the young lady teaches him some lessons. At the same time, remember that breaking with tradition can land everyone in a pot of fish – sometimes literally.

And so begins a whole new story….

I really enjoyed this book. The godmother is a warrior woman, very different from the godmothers I’ve read about in the past. If you are looking for an interesting book, this is a good one. Gabra Zachman did a great job retelling the Fairy Godmother. She did a great male and female voice. I’ve heard other books she narrates, and she always does great.
