The Female Of The Species – Audiobook Online

“The Female of the Species” by Mindy McGinnis is a novel about a high school student named Alex Craft, who has a reputation for being a loner and for her violent behavior towards those who harm others. She befriends two classmates, Jack and Peekay, and becomes involved with their lives. However, when her sister’s murderer is released from prison, Alex’s dark side comes out, and she seeks revenge against him. The novel explores themes of justice, revenge, and the complexities of human nature, particularly with regards to gender.

Edgar Award-winning author Mindy McGinnis delivers a dark and riveting contemporary YA novel that blends the unflinching honesty of Laurie Halse Anderson’s Speak with the relentless pacing and alternating perspectives of Gone Girl. A stunning, unforgettable listen.

Alex Craft knows how to kill people. And she doesn’t feel bad about it.

Three years ago, when her older sister, Anna, was murdered and the killer was freed, Alex released the language she understood best – the language of violence. While her own crimes go unpunished, Alex knows she cannot be trusted among others. Not with Jack, the star athlete wants to really get to know her but still feels guilty about his role in the night Anna’s body was discovered. And not with Peekay, the unruly preacher’s child who befriends Alex when they volunteer at an animal shelter. Not anyone.

As their senior year begins, Alex’s dark nature erupts, plunging these three teenagers into a collision that will change their lives forever.

Very well written and narrated. no annoying female leads. I couldnt stop listening, was sad for the end, would have liked a sequel.
