The Girl Who Saved Christmas / A Boy Called Christmas, Book 2 – Audiobook Online

“The Girl Who Saved Christmas” by Matt Haig is the second book in the “A Boy Called Christmas” series. The book follows Amelia Wishart, a young girl who has lost her belief in Christmas magic and is worried that Christmas might not happen this year. This is because Father Christmas has been kidnapped by his evil cousin, the Easter Bunny, and is being held prisoner in a mountain top castle.
Amelia teams up with Father Christmas’ loyal reindeer, the Intrepid Fox, to try and rescue him. Along the way, they encounter a host of magical creatures, including talking trees and enchanted rivers. As they journey closer to the castle, they are joined by some unexpected companions, including the young Father Christmas himself.
Together, they must use all their wit and courage to outsmart the Easter Bunny and save Father Christmas, ensuring that Christmas can take place as planned. Along the way, Amelia rediscovers her belief in the magic of Christmas and learns that even the seemingly impossible can be achieved with determination and teamwork.

The whole family will be delighted by this beautiful story about the first child to receive a Christmas present. A perfect read this holiday season.

From the creator of A Boy Called Christmas–now a Netflix series starring Kristen Wiig, Maggie Smith, and Henry Lawfull.

Amelia Wishart was the first child to receive a Christmas present. It was her Christmas spirit that gave Santa the extra magical power he needed to make his first trip around the world. But now Amelia is in trouble.

When her mother fell ill, she was sent to the hospice to toil at the hands of the evil Mr. Creeper. Over the course of a year, Amelia scrubbed the floor and ate thin porridge, with no kindness to keep her going. It wasn’t long before her hopes began to run out.

Meanwhile, in the North Pole, magic levels drop dangerously low as Christmas approaches and Santa knows that something is seriously wrong. With the help of his trusty reindeer, a curious cat, and Charles Dickens, he sets out to find Amelia, the only girl who can save Christmas. But first Amelia must learn to trust again.

“Matt Haig has an empathy for the human condition, its lights and shadows, and he uses an entire palette of colors to build his brilliant stories.” —Neil Gaiman, Newbery Prize-winning author of The Graveyard Book.

This story is wonderful, a little sad, poignant and triumphant. Amelia’s is a sad story. The first time I lost my mother. Then other bad things happen. Not to be told in a scary manor so that young children may not be scared. A magical solution to restore the Christmas Spirit. The narrator is wonderful.

The book itself is a pleasure to read and very well written; however, the paperback is poorly made. The ink is smudged, smeared all over the page, the paper is super thin, easy to tear. The book arrived damaged and I can understand why as the quality was not good and I did not expect it to be in good shape through many readings. I will replace it with hardcover when the time comes and hopefully the quality will be better as this is a book that I can see us reading every year.
