The Gods of War By Jack Ludlow – Audiobook Online

“The Gods of War” by Jack Ludlow is a historical fiction novel set in ancient Rome. The book follows Marcellus, the son of the deceased senator Lucius Falerius, as he tries to carry out his father’s legacy by restoring the rights promised to the defeated Sicilian slaves. However, there are forces that oppose Marcellus and his efforts to bring justice to the slaves. The story explores themes of power, politics, and the struggle for justice in a society where corruption and oppression run rampant.

Lucius Falerius is dead, and all of Rome mourns the passing of its most powerful senator. His son, Marcellus, must carry on his father’s legacy and restore the promised rights to the defeated Sicilian slaves, but there are those who will not see the honor of Rome damaged and the slaves. subdued.

There was trouble on the Roman frontier provinces, and legions moved north to neutralize the threat posed by the Celts. The alliance of Celtic tribes is united under one Chief, the formidable and unpredictable Brennos, but there is a plot that kills him and the alliance falls apart. For Brennos, the betrayal comes from his own family, so he’ll wage a brutal and bloody revenge.

These books are a brilliant read. The characters and settings are obviously taken from true history, and I learnt so much about Roman society, and the way Rome organised the running of most of the world. Young history lovers would enjoy this too.
