Prey fans everywhere have embraced the return of another charismatic Sandford hero, Kidd, artist, computer expert and professional crime, and sometimes partner, double lover when his, LuEllen.
In The Hanged Man’s Song, a super hacker friend of Kidd’s named Bobby suddenly disappears from cyberspace, and Kidd knows that’s not a good sign. Later, upon arriving at Bobby’s house, Kidd found him dead on the floor, his head hit the wall and his laptop missing, and Kidd knew that wasn’t really a good sign. The secrets on that laptop are powerful enough to hang Kidd and everyone else in Bobby’s circle, in the first place, so it’s no wonder Kidd and LuEllen have to try to track it down, Not to mention Kidd really wanted his laptop. deal with the man who killed Bobby. But before Kidd can get very far, secrets begin to emerge… and they’re more amazing than he could have imagined. Because now it’s not just about the lives of a bunch of friends and co-workers, oh no, it’s about something a lot bigger. And much, much scarier.
Filled with the atmosphere, characters and exceptional drama that have made John Sandford one of America’s most beloved horror writers, The Hanged Man’s Song is a suspenseful masterpiece.
Another of Sandford’s Kidd novels, this one takes us across the country documenting gambling scams and computerized pranks. It’s a fun book to listen to, and the narrator is my favorite. He doesn’t understand Sandford, and understands the context well enough to translate it with a slight edge to his voice.
