In this highly anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestseller The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue, Felicity Montague must use all the wits and wiles of women to achieve her dream of becoming one. doctor – even if she has to plan on traveling all over Europe to do it. A must-read for fans of Mackenzi Lee’s extraordinary and Stonewall Honor-winning novel.
A year after an accidental epic tour with her brother Monty, Felicity Montague has returned to England with two goals in mind – avoiding the proposal of an avid suitor from Edinburgh and enrolling in medical school. However, her intellect and passion will never be enough in the eyes of regulators, who see men as the sole guardians of science.
But then a window of opportunity opens – a doctor she idolizes is about to marry an old friend of hers in Germany. Felicity believes that if she meets this man, he can change her future, but she doesn’t have the money to make the trip. Luckily, a mysterious young woman is willing to pay Felicity’s way, as long as she’s allowed to travel with Felicity disguised as her handmaiden.
Despite her suspicions, Felicity agrees, but once the girl’s true motives are revealed, Felicity becomes part of a perilous quest that leads them from the German countryside to the promenade of Zurich to the secrets hidden under the Atlantic Ocean.
Great story and a great sequel. Reading about her struggles and seeing her grow through them is amazing. She is a great character. The reader also gave a great performance. Great vocal work. I totally recommend reading this book!
Mackenzi Lee does it again. This novel is so much fun. Felicity is fierce, independent, driven, and honest to mistakes. Sometimes she’s not that lovable, but she knows what she wants. Joanna is a delight, and Sim is a perfect contrast to the two British ladies. I appreciate the fact that the protagonist realizes that people are complicated and that she herself is not as straightforward as what is considered “normal”. Trustworthy and honest with a bit of fantasy. OH! and Monty and Percy are always happy.
