“One of the best legal thrillers of the last decade” – Associated Press

On the night he celebrates a big win, defense attorney Mickey Haller is stopped by police, who find the body of a former client in the trunk of his Lincoln. Haller was immediately charged with murder but was unable to file an exorbitant $5 million bail imposed on him by a vindictive judge.

Mickey chooses to represent himself and is forced to defend himself from his cell in the Twin Towers Correctional Center in downtown Los Angeles. All the while, he needs to look over his shoulder – as a court official, he’s an immediate target, and he has few friends when it comes to revealing a conspiracy. corruption in prison.

But the bigger conspiracy is the one against him. Haller knew he was trapped, new or old. As his trusted team, including his half – brother, Harry Bosch, investigate, Haller must use all of his skills in the courtroom to fend off credible evidence. curses against him.

Even if he could get a verdict of not guilty, Mickey understood that wouldn’t be enough. To be truly vindicated, he must find out who really committed the murder and why. That is the law of innocence.

Other reviewers have criticized the author for “anti – Trump” references. There’s only one meaning and it doesn’t detract from the story. Even fictional characters are entitled to their opinions and beliefs. If I had to agree with every character I’ve read, I’d probably give up reading. That being said the story is amazing. I love that familiar old characters have been included.

I believe I’ve read every book Michael Connelly has written or read almost every book if I miss a book or two. He is one of my favorite authors and continues to impress me with his creativity and storytelling. The Mickey Haller series is a true masterpiece of legal fiction and innocence law is one of his best books in the series. I highly recommend this book as Mr. Connelly knocked it off, it’s out of the park again.
