I definitely fell in love with this series. I’m re – reading it and am amazed that the writing, the character development, the story, etc., are all getting better and better. While the material can be a little dark at times, you can’t put these books down. Don’t ask me which book is my favorite. I love all of them. The author has created a world of his own. I just finished The Lovers and I can’t understand why it took me so long to re-read them. I have both the hard and kindle versions of all the books. Love John and Charlie (and all of Charlie’s loyal friends).

John Connolly’s writing defies genre. Part mystery, suspense, fantasy, crime — I’ve always been completely immersed in the world of Charlie Parker and the people in his orbit. I’m rereading the entire Charlie Parker series (happily interrupted by Nocturnes and Nocturnes 2, equally engaging), then I’ll reread the Samuel Johnson novels, then start from the next section. The Chronicles of the Invaders series (which I have never read). His prose is intelligent, descriptive, evocative, complex, and engaging. These are not beach books. You have to give your best to the experience and take the time to savor each sentence.
