Ark Royal – the British Royal Navy’s obsolete aircraft carrier – won a resounding victory over the mysterious aliens, captured one of their spacecraft and returned to Earth. Now, Admiral Theodore Smith and his crew are tasked with commanding a fleet responsible for carrying out a deep penetration attack into alien territory, a fleet of ships Airports come from four different countries. But with a crew not what he seems, untested pilots and international conflict – and a dangerous new alien scheme – will Ted and his crew Can they survive their mission…or will they die, alone and unnoticed, hundreds of light years from home?
As a fan of Aubrey-Maturin’s books AND science fiction, this is an interesting combination. Good narrator, but could change the voice a bit more. It’s enough to tell who’s talking, but it’s more like being read to by a parent than a professional storyteller.
I love everything about this series, the action, the drama of the characters, the sex scenes and the narrator is also very good.
Aliens are aliens and mysterious, creepy, and the fight scenes are glorious! It’s also quite grounded and the military stuff seems very accurate. loved this series because it was such a great story and perfectly told. I have been following Christopher g Nuttall for a long time and will continue to do so
