The Novel Habits Of Happiness / Isabel Dalhousie Series, Book 10, Audiobook Online By: Alexander McCall Smith

Insatiably curious Edinburgh philosopher and amateur detective, Isabel Dalhousie returns, taking on a case unlike any she’s encountered before – this case has mystical implications – in the sequel eagerly awaited new series of bestselling and beloved series by Alexander McCall Smith.

Through a mutual acquaintance, Isabel is introduced to a six-year-old boy who experiences vivid recollections of his past life, which include a perfect description of an island off the coast of Scotland and a the house on the island where he claimed to be. lived. When the boy’s mother asked Isabel to investigate, Isabel naturally felt like helping, so she, her husband Jamie and their son, Charlie, set out for the island. To their great surprise, they actually locate the house the boy describes, which leads to more complicated questions, since Isabel’s desire to find a logical explanation runs counter to the secret. Strange hidden is opening before her eyes. It was an extremely delicate situation that required all of her skills, as detective and philosopher, to deal with.

Back home, as she begins to prepare the next issue of her Review of Applied Ethics, Isabel faces a threat to her professional prosperity in the form of two visiting academics – Lettuce and Dove – whom she fears will destabilize her cozy perch in enlightened Edinburgh.

But regardless of the challenges she faces, Isabel is happily content with her personal life, focused on her young son and devoted husband. Readers will be filled with happiness when they are once again with their beloved heroine and the people she holds dear.

To my surprise, this is the tenth book in this series where nothing really happens. However, this is what makes these books so great. They are calm and collected, relaxed and relaxed. No need to sit on the edge of your chair or rest before the next stressful scene. Isabel, Jamie and little Charlie form the perfect family, living in a lovely old house in picturesque Edinburgh. Most of the time is spent thinking about Isabel’s thoughts on life in general and then there’s a little mystery that needs to be solved that never revolves around anything particularly nasty. Absolutely delightful and this finale is rewarded with news that Isabel is about to share with Jamie. Loved it.

I’ve been following Isabel Dalhousie since the very beginning and have always been looking forward to the next installment of the series. I am never disappointed. Now that she is married to Jamie and they have an adorable son, one wonders what will happen next to Isabel. This content level can be continued. I hope the author doesn’t decide to put on a disaster. I needed the pleasant element that this series never failed to deliver.
