Modern domestic noir comes to bite nails. A Tense Hitchcockian Psychological Thriller.
Louise Voss returns with her darkest, coldest novel…
Lynn Naismith gave up the job she loved to marry Ed, the love of her life, but it was worth the happy years they enjoyed together. Now, ten years on, Ed is diagnosed with early dementia, and things start to happen; more sinister things than losing keys and losing words. As some memories are forgotten, others long buried begin to emerge… and Lynn’s perfect world begins to crumble.
But is Ed’s mind playing tricks or hers…?
Lynn and Ed have been married for almost a decade so the news was terrible when they found out that Ed had been diagnosed with early dementia. It starts with using the wrong words, putting things in odd positions, but as his dementia progresses, his behavior becomes a lot more sinister. This book was a great surprise for me. I think the amnesia aspect works very well here. When you’re in love with someone and a diagnosis like this arises, you shouldn’t walk away no matter how bad it gets. This is the difficult situation Lynn finds herself in. But be careful, because this is a psychological thriller that you all know well that not everyone or everything is what it seems. I love me a good turn and finally….yes you got me. I don’t expect that. Louise Voss has written a pretty good story and it’s one not to be missed.
I love Louise Voss and am excited to gobble up her new suspenseful psychological thriller. It’s been a long time since I heard a book that kept me hooked from start to finish, and one that I’ll never forget. Original plot, not entirely believable; Attractive characters and lots of suspense throughout. This book keeps you guessing. I think the narration is also excellent. Highly recommended for fans of the genre and Louise Voss fans.
