The Passage By Justin Cronin – Audiobook Online
The Passage is the first book in The Passage Trilogy written by Justin Cronin. It is a post-apocalyptic novel that combines elements of science fiction, horror, and thriller genres. The book was published in 2010 and quickly gained popularity, becoming a bestseller.
The story of The Passage begins in the near future, where scientists are conducting experiments on twelve death row inmates in an attempt to create a virus that could potentially cure all diseases. However, things go horribly wrong when the virus mutates, turning the subjects into bloodthirsty creatures known as “virals” or “dracs.” These virals possess superhuman strength and speed, as well as an insatiable hunger for human blood.
As the virals escape from the secret government facility where they were being held, they begin to spread their infection across the country, causing chaos and destruction. The world quickly descends into an apocalyptic state, with most of humanity wiped out by the virals.
Amidst this devastation, a young girl named Amy Harper Bellafonte emerges as a key figure in the fight against the virals. Amy is not like other humans; she has been infected with the virus but has not turned into a viral. Instead, she exhibits unique abilities and seems to hold the key to finding a cure for the virus.
Amy is taken under the protection of FBI agent Brad Wolgast, who becomes her surrogate father figure. Together, they embark on a journey to find answers and ultimately save humanity from extinction. Along the way, they encounter various survivors who have formed communities and struggle to survive in this new world.
The narrative of The Passage spans over several decades, shifting between different time periods and perspectives. It explores themes of survival, sacrifice, love, and the nature of humanity. The story delves into the psychological effects of living in a post-apocalyptic world and the lengths people will go to protect those they care about.
The Passage is a gripping and intense novel that keeps readers on the edge of their seats. It combines elements of horror and suspense with deep character development and thought-provoking themes. The book received critical acclaim for its immersive storytelling and intricate world-building.
The success of The Passage led to the release of two more books in The Passage Trilogy: The Twelve (2012) and The City of Mirrors (2016). These subsequent novels continue the story of Amy and the fight against the virals, exploring new characters and expanding upon the post-apocalyptic world established in the first book.
Overall, The Passage is a thrilling and thought-provoking novel that captivates readers with its unique blend of genres and compelling storytelling. It has garnered a dedicated fanbase and solidified Justin Cronin as a prominent author in the post-apocalyptic genre.

The passage is a beautifully written novel about vampires, with a fresh and innovative twist. I think the first few hours laid a good foundation for the rest of the story. Justin Cronin did a great job introducing all the main characters. They were well thought out and interesting. Overall the book is pretty good. I look forward to book number two.
If I had known this was a book about vampires, I probably wouldn’t have bought it. That is regrettable. If I affirm my decision to give a credit for hearing the sample narration, that would also be a mistake. Narrative is brilliant.
The characters come to life with this incredibly engaging story, a unique and engaging story that I just couldn’t put down. Recommendation: Get this book while it’s still just one credit. Oh, now two credits? It’s still a bargain. This book is known as a classic.
