“The Royal Rogue” is a standalone novella by Emily Barden that tells the story of Princess Stella of Denmark, who is known as the black sheep of the royal family due to her single mother status and scandalous past. However, when Prince Orlando of Monaco comes to stay with her, things take a turn as he tries to seduce her, and soon they find themselves in a compromising position. Emily Barden’s writing is engaging and easy to read, with a strong focus on the relationship between the two main characters. The narration by Lucy Rivers is excellent, with a clear and consistent voice that brings the characters to life. Despite the fact that the book is short, it manages to pack in a lot of emotional depth, with themes of family, love, and the complexities of royal life. Overall, “The Royal Rogue” is a compelling and entertaining read that fans of romance novels will enjoy. Those looking for a more in-depth story may want to look elsewhere, as this novella is more of a quick and steamy read than a comprehensive novel. However, for those who enjoy a sexy and engaging romance, “The Royal Rogue” is an excellent choice.

This is the first book by Karina Halle that I read and I must say I am hooked! There’s something about royalty that everyone wants to know and be a part of, but the real people born into it want what the average person has.

Stella was reluctantly pushed into the role of Royal Regent when her brother King Askel of Denmark went on a family vacation. She was asked to entertain the royal family of Monaco, in which she met the heir to the throne, Prince Orlando aka Royal Rogue. Both sides were hostile and curious until an ill-timed or perhaps well-timed incident with an animal brought them together. There’s instant chemistry and lots of action. There are also secrets, loyalty and a lovely surprise that will bring them together or ruin what Stella and Orlando have.
A great first read from this author and now I want to know more about the other Princes mentioned in the story as well as King Askel and his Australian nanny!
