The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry – Audiobook Online

The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry by John Mark Comer is a book that explores the detrimental effects of hurry on our lives and offers practical ways to slow down and live a more intentional and fulfilling life. In this book, Comer argues that our modern culture promotes busyness and constant activity, leading to stress, burnout, and a lack of connection with ourselves, others, and God.

The book begins by examining the concept of hurry and its origins in our society. Comer explains how technology, consumerism, and the pressure to achieve have contributed to a culture of busyness. He highlights the negative consequences of this lifestyle, such as anxiety, depression, relational breakdowns, and spiritual emptiness.

Comer then presents a compelling case for why we need to eliminate hurry from our lives. He emphasizes the importance of rest, Sabbath, silence, solitude, and simplicity as antidotes to the fast-paced nature of our world. Drawing from his own experiences and biblical teachings, he encourages readers to prioritize their relationship with God and cultivate a rhythm of life that allows for reflection, renewal, and deep connection.

Throughout the book, Comer provides practical strategies for slowing down and embracing a more intentional way of living. He suggests practices such as setting boundaries around technology use, creating margin in our schedules, practicing mindfulness and gratitude, engaging in meaningful relationships, and finding joy in simple pleasures. He also explores the role of work-life balance and the importance of prioritizing what truly matters.

Furthermore, Comer addresses the issue of hurry within the context of faith. He discusses how our spiritual lives can be affected by busyness and offers insights on how to cultivate a deeper relationship with God amidst the chaos of everyday life. He encourages readers to embrace spiritual disciplines such as prayer, meditation, scripture reading, and community involvement.

Overall, The Ruthless Elimination of Hurry is a thought-provoking and practical guide for anyone seeking to break free from the cycle of busyness and find a more meaningful and fulfilling way of living. Comer’s writing is engaging, relatable, and backed by personal experiences and biblical wisdom.

That’s a question that pastor and author John Mark Comer has always wondered about. On the surface, he seems successful. But inside, things are not pretty. So he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words:

“Ridiculously remove haste from your life. Haste is the greatest enemy of spiritual life.”

It wasn’t the answer he expected, but it was – and will continue to be – the answer he needed. In the modern world, we often treat the symptoms of poisoning instead of trying to determine the cause. More and more voices point out that haste, or busyness, is the root of much evil.

In this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating route to maintaining mental health and wellness in the chaos of the modern world.

I have been following the teachings and writings of John Mark Comer since I was a 15 year old believer living in Portland, OR (12 years ago). I have always respected his intellectual and venerable views on the Gospel, and when I heard this new book, I was both delighted and refreshed. He certainly found a much deeper level of peace in his walk with Jesus and this information should be usefully used by anyone willing to stop and listen.
I have also followed his teachings with “The Way of Jesus” in CA as well as his sermons at his hometown church on the topic of haste/disciplines. spiritually and even in his tone and attitude you can see how the revelation of a deeper relationship with God has really changed him into a person of peace and filled with more joy.
Help your soul and don’t just read this book but follow the principles and find rest.

This book is engaging from start to finish. It’s really the most interesting topic of our time – society at large is living a rat race going nowhere. This book thoroughly tackles that topic in a fresh and practical way. There’s more to say but I’ll have to listen to the book again to explain. Also, bonus points for the author actually reading, which makes it a lot more interesting.

The perfect book for this quarantine time. Immediate changes can be made based on skills and strategies that will help you become closer to Jesus. I’m excited to slow down and live a simple life.
