The Silmarillion Audiobook By J. R. R. Tolkien
The Silmarillion is a science fiction fantasy novel with a fascinating tale. It is a prequel to the beautiful and popular series by the name of The Lord of the Rings. It is written by none other than J. R. R. Tolkien. He has been amazing at writing and proved that over and over again with so many magnificent novels. It will be hard to pick his best work but arguably, The Two Towers and The Fellowship of the Ring are his best novels.
The Silmarillion is narrated by Martin Shaw. The book has a complex text to read and with that challenge, the narrator did a fantastic job. However, there was a little bit of declamatory in the delivery, but it could be easily ignored looking at the positives.
The book tells an account of the Elder Days of Tolkien’s world. It is a beautiful ancient drama to which all the characters associated with The Lord of the Rings look back on. The tale is set in an age when the first Dark Lord, Morgoth resided in the Middle-Earth, and the war got opened upon him by the High Elves. It was fought for the sake of recovering Silmarils. It was all for the jewels that had the pure light of the Valinor.
You will get to enjoy a range of other shorter works in the audiobook version that includes The Ainulindale as the best one. It is a myth regarding Creation. There is Valaquenta that tells about the powers and nature of each of the gods.
The Silmarillion is a brooding, grim, tragic, and beautiful book, all at the same time. The book has a lot of elements that will keep you thoroughly involved in it.
