Local police have announced that they are ending their investigation into the suspected drowning of 37-year-old painter Colleen Westcott. She disappeared on April 11, 2010, and her car was found parked near the waterfront in Cleveland two days later, but her body was never found. The sheriff has stated that no concrete evidence of foul play was discovered during the investigation.
I annoyedly closed the online search window. These articles never had enough detail. They think my husband’s first wife is gone, or they think she’s dead. There is a big difference.
My phone rings, waking me from my thoughts, and when I pick it up, it’s a strange number. The only response to my slightly out of breath greeting was an empty static.
Finally the voice came, it was a female voice, low, muffled. “Where is it, Claire? What did you do with it? Tell me where it is.”
A woman. A real flesh-and-blood woman on the other end of the line. She’s not just in my head.
From the moment I opened this book, I couldn’t put it down. I find Claire an engaging and interesting character. Much of this book is told in an almost line of thought style, which I really enjoyed. I think this helps the reader dive into Claire’s mind and see things from her perspective. This book kept me speculating as I read and kept moving faster and faster until I couldn’t turn the pages fast enough. Overall, very interesting and well written! I will definitely read this again!
I really enjoyed this book, the plot is good and I love how the little clues are left out along the way.
The only thing stopping me from giving 5 stars is obviously Clare or Tracey! Was it the person who stole the ring and set Colleen on fire so the end wasn’t really a turning point.
