I enjoyed Anna’s previous series, but to be honest, I find this book far behind her previous works. What a poignant, heartfelt tale of complicated characters, romantic relationships, magical settings, moments of horror as well as joy, and a terrifying reflection of their world. us, both in history and in the present. I found the overall plot to be profound and heartbreaking, yet completely believable, despite the otherworldly elements that were interesting and mysterious. A definite must – read for fans of the fantasy genre and has a wonderfully refreshing setting. May your ancestors guide you to this book.
